Honda Jazz 2015 review

With an all-new platform and inside-out updated design, can the Honda Jazz win back the hearts of small car buyers? Read on to see why we think the 2015 Jazz makes a great secondhand runabout.

Exterior of the Honda Jazz 2015

With unique styling, the all-new body of the 2015 Honda Jazz is still unmistakable. Even the base model comes with LED projector headlights.

The design is modern, sportier bodywork reminding us of Honda's motor racing connections, with a bold front end and lines sweeping towards the tail for a sassy stance.

Despite it being longer and wider than the previous model, it doesn't show from the outside. You can still park in pinchy small car parks, but open the doors and the Honda Jazz 2015 reveals it's Tardis-like qualities.

Inside the Honda Jazz 2015

Possibly the most spacious small car you can buy, there's a 354-litre space in the boot with the seats up and 884 litres when the famous 'Magic Seats' are folded. The centrally mounted fuel tank means the floor is lower, giving you more space for a bike or tall objects in the back, made easier to use by cargo tie-down points.

The longer wheelbase also means more passenger space in the cabin. Inside the cabin, the seats can fold into just about any configuration you like. In 'Refresh' mode, the front seat headrests can be removed, allowing the seats to tip right back to you can lie down.

If you're at the drive-in, fold the front seats flat and use them as a comfy footstool while you sit in the back. The rear seats fold up and back, or forward and flat, giving you variations to fit the shape of your luggage. The seats are easy to move around, and six airbags ensure a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

Connectivity

A 7-inch touchscreen is split into two sections, with the top section controlling navigation, radio and phone functions, and the lower display acting as the control panel for the interior heating and cooling systems.

Apple Siri Eyes Free give iPhone users that extra functionality too.

What's it like to drive a Honda Jazz 2015?

With auto headlights and traffic sign recognition, as well as AEB, the Jazz is ahead with driver technology. The car has a good dynamic balance, ideal for zipping through city streets and even spirited country driving.

When fitted with a towbar, you can actually tow up to 1,000 kilograms braked. At less than a tonne, fuel efficiency is great, and it handles confidently on wet roads. Standard driving features include cruise control, air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, and a reversing camera with three different views.

The turning circle of 10.4 metres isn't the tightest in the small car sector, but it still allows plenty of manoeuvrability.

Who's the Honda Jazz 2015 for?

A city dweller who needs a versatile, practical car can't look past the Honda Jazz 2015. Fit in the band's gear, truck home an Ikea flat-pack, or load up with passengers - for a small car, the 2015 Jazz can get a lot done.
