The exterior of the 2019 Jeep Renegade
The car’s front end sports a refreshed grille surrounds and a redesigned front fascia. The headlamps, fog lamps and tail lamps are all LED. The wheels can be upgraded with a variety of new 16- to 19-inch wheel options. Three fresh paint exterior colours are also available: Bikini, Slate Blue, and Sting Gray.
The car also comes with an optional open-air My Sky® Removable Panel Sunroof that stores flat in a height-adjustable rear cargo area.
The Limited model looks sportier with a redesigned upper and lower front fascia and restyled grille openings and vents. The Trailhawk trim has a front fascia that curls up, striking red tow hooks and a black hood decal.
Inside the 2019 Jeep Renegade
The interior of the car is designed for a comfortable and relaxed riding experience, albeit it can feel stiffly sprung in Trailhawk. The heated front seats can be individualised with a range of fabric such as mesh cloth, Washington cloth seats, topographic cloth, deluxe cloth, trespass black cloth with metal diamonds accents, McKinley leather trim, black leather cloth with ruby accent stitching and polar plunge leather trim with grillz accents.
The optional 7-inch Driver Information Digital Cluster Display allows the driver to view key driving data, like speed and available navigation, without losing focus on the road ahead. The rear cargo area has an average space and limited storage pockets, but the adjustable cargo floor can be moved up or down to let you spontaneously rearrange your storage even while on the go.
Other premium features give the cabin a comfortable and deluxe vibe, including the heated steering wheel, Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control and an 8-speaker BeatsAudio™ Premium Sound System with subwoofer.
Connectivity
Jeep Renegade uses an excellent infotainment system called Uconnect® that's compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The base models have a standard 5-inch touchscreen display while the rest has a 7-inch display. A 4C NAV with 8.4-inch display is also available for upgrade.
The car also comes with an integrated voice command with Bluetooth and a media centre with a remote USB port/auxiliary input jack and 12-volt power outlet.
What's it like to drive a 2019 Jeep Renegade?
The car provides a great off-road capability, especially the Limited and Trailhawk models with their standard 1.3L MultiAir® Turbo engine with Direct Injection that delivers up to 32 highway mpg while channeling up to 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. When mated to the nine-speed automatic transmission, the Engine Stop/Start Technology significantly adds to the efficiency of this powerhouse.
The other models are all front-wheel-drive and are not really ideal for off-road driving although they still provide a decent off-road driving with their standard 2.4L Tigershark® Multiair® 2 Engine, which features advanced MultiAir®technology that increases power and torque for a smooth and powerful driving experience.
The Renegade also offers agile handling when on the pavement. The steering is responsive to driver inputs, helping body roll around corners at a minimum. However, the nine-speed automatic transmission can get slow at times.
The car’s high seating position provides a good view of the road. It also has an impressive set of optional driver-assistance equipment, including adaptive cruise control, self-parking technology, and optional LED exterior lighting. Other upgrades include lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and automated emergency braking.
Who’s the 2019 Jeep Renegade for?
The 2019 Jeep Renegade is definitely for the fans of the Jeep Renegade who love its classic bold and rugged look but dreams of driving the car in a more powerful engine and more driver-assistance technology.
It is also ideal for urban professionals who occasionally go on out-of-town trips but not on too rough terrains and those who want to bring the off-road vibe in the city environments. Because of its cramped backseat legroom and tiny cargo area, it works best with people who are driving solo, with one passenger and with young families of three or four.
